The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for Human Resources operations. This is a hybrid role with some responsibilities being performed via telework and other responsibilities requiring on-site presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate, understand and apply our workplace mission, vision and values
  • Provides administrative support to the Human Resources team:
  • Learns HR systems to assist with general inquiries and questions, generate reports and perform systems audits
  • Researches, plans and executes company-wide events with the goal of furthering PDMI’s culture and employee engagement; events include in-person and virtual and range from small groups to full company events
  • Assists with HR compliance by performing audits of documentation and processes; recommends process improvements
  • Retrieves mail from post office on set days and times (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.)
  • Sorts and distributes mail at physical office location; identifies mail that may be of priority and contacts recipients of such
  • Prints and mails sensitive documentation such as COBRA notices, unemployment responses, etc.
  • Assists with new hire onboarding process by distributing equipment to new team members, preparing and sending new hire welcome box
  • Assists with general payroll duties including data entry and reporting; able to respond to general payroll inquiries
  • Assists with benefits programs and able to respond to general benefits inquiries
  • Completes special projects as assigned such as data gathering, document updates, HR metrics reporting, and other HR related initiatives
  • Responds to routine employment verification requests
  • Assists with other HR department initiatives including company apparel program and employee gifting (challenges, congratulations, sympathy, etc.)
  • Stays current on HR trends and employment law
  • Creates and executes strategy to convert current employee files to electronic; maintain and perform regular audits thereafter
  • Ability to connect with team, maintain trust and navigate sensitive issues
  • May coordinate group travel arrangements upon request

Work & Education Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business specific to Human Resources preferred
  • Professional certification preferred (PHR, SHRM, etc.)
  • Human Resources experience is preferred but more important is the willingness and ability to learn and grow
  • General knowledge of HR laws, payroll and benefits
  • Significant level of diplomacy and trust
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations
  • Ability to develop a unique understanding of PDMI brand, products, and services
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word

Supervisory/Leadership Responsibilities:

There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position. However, for specific special projects, this position often requires leadership skills.
